Our code of ethics shapes how we all- staff, management, board of directors and volunteers- are expected to behave. These help us identify right and wrong, fair and unfair. We must always obey our code of ethics.
Integrity and honesty
We expect our team members to tell the truth and always avoid any wrongdoing to the best of their ability. Theft, exploitative, malicious, or deceitful conduct will not be tolerated and will lead to disciplinary action in accordance with legislation (please refer to employee handbook for termination and disciplinary action policies).
Justice
Avodah Global seeks to uphold justice in all its practices. We expect all our team members to act in fairness, objectivity, and treat one another in a way that honours the mission of Avodah Global to empower vulnerable and at-risk workers with skills, training and employment. Discrimination will not be tolerated. Don’t’ be afraid to speak up when someone else is experiencing injustice.
Lawfulness
We expect the following of all team members, whether employee, contractor, or volunteer:
Conflict of interest
Conflicts of interest may occur whenever your interest in a particular matter leads you to actions, activities or relationships that undermine our company. We expect that our team members will not engage in behaviours that undermine Avodah Global.
Accountability
To be great at what we do, we need to be accountable. This means taking responsibility for your actions. We all make mistakes or need to make tough decisions and it’s important we own up to them. When we make mistakes, the only two questions we will ask each other is: “What is the fix to correct the problem?” and “What did you learn through this mistake?” It is not appropriate to shout, yell or belittle people who make mistakes. Failure provides opportunity for personal and team growth.
Respect
It’s mandatory to respect everyone you interact with. Be kind, polite and understanding. You must respect others’ personal space, opinions, and privacy. As a general rule, try to put yourself in someone else’s place. How would you feel if someone behaved a specific way to you? If the answer is “I wouldn’t like it much” or “I would never let them behave like that to me”, then we don’t tolerate this behaviour no matter the person it comes from.
We are committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for all workers (including contractors and volunteers) as well as clients, visitors and members of the public. Hazards and risks to health and safety will be eliminated or minimised, as far as is reasonably practicable. For policy details please contact Avodah Global.
